Premios al Merito Deportivo
On behalf of his majesty the King of Spain Don Juan Carlos I, the Spanish Olympic Committee awards special recognition to those athletes who have excelled at the international level with an Honorary Medal for sports merit (merito deportivo) presented by his Royal Highness Prince Felipe de Borbon, son of the king. Based on experience in competition and medals accumulated, one is honored with the corresponding medal.
